Fellow citizen Domenico Maria Belzoppi, political notary and statesman of the 19th century, is celebrated with the aim of enhancing his political and diplomatic uprightness. Enrolled in the San Marino patriciate in 1842, he served as Captain Regent five times (1838, 1842, 1845-46, 1849 and 1853). From his first six-year term, Belzoppi indicated the lines of a policy based on the strict safeguarding of the Republic's independence and the widest possible granting of the right of asylum to Italian patriots of the Risorgimento. His name is linked to the episode that will go down in history as "the Garibaldian escape." Belzoppi's notarial seal and a QR code linked to additional content on his story are included in the descriptive strip.
