The commemorative 2-euro coin bears on the obverse side the relief image of the sculpture of the goddess Hebe, a work that Canova created between 1796 and 1817 in four copies now preserved in Berlin, St Petersburg, Chatsworth and Forlì. It is the latter that was chosen for the San Marino coin. Hebe's sculptures are today considered among the highest works of Neoclassicism.
