Divisional coin set 2013 8 pcs

The divisional set containing coins from 1 cent to 2 euros was issued in 15,000 copies and distributed as a ‘tourist series’. The packaging depicts the gateway to the city of San Marino. Better known as Porta di San Francesco, until the 17th century it was commonly called ‘Porta del Luocho’, meaning ‘the place’, i.e. the entrance to the convent. In the photo used for the Tourist Coin Set, the AASFN wanted to recall more recent times, albeit faded from memory. Here is a snapshot from the early 1900s showing a group of young people waiting for the stagecoach, at the time the only means of transport, both for people and postal correspondence, to Rimini. An entrance gate that, with the postmark, was intended to promote, encourage and offer a means of access to the ninth edition of the ‘San Marino 2013’ philatelic and numismatic convention, which took place every two years on Mount Titano. This was an important and prestigious event, with the official participation of the Italian Post Office, the Principality of Monaco, the Vatican City, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, as well as Italian and foreign guests from the sector, exhibitors and traders from all over Europe.
