The € 0.60 stamp depicts two hands playing the keyboard of a piano; against the
background of a night sky the sea, an island and the moon. The stamp is completed by the legends
‘FRYDERYK CHOPIN’, ‘1810-1849’.
The € 0.65 stamp depicts details of films written or directed by Kurosawa: The Seven Samurai,
Ran and Dersu Uzala. On the stamp the legends ‘AKIRA KUROSAWA’, ‘1910-1998’, ‘I SETTE
SAMURAI’, DERSU UZALA‘, ’RAN" and the inscription in Japanese by Akira Kurosawa.
The € 0.85 stamp depicts a conductor leading an orchestra. Completing the legends are
“GUSTAV MAHLER”, “1860-1911”.
The last stamp in the series, € 4.95, features the writer Mark Twain in the centre, on the left
an illustration from the adventures of Tom Sawyer, on the right an image from the adventures
of Huckleberry Finn. The legends ‘MARK TWAIN’, ‘1835-1910’ complete the picture.
Each stamp is completed by the legends ‘SAN MARINO’, the respective values, the Institute that
handled the printing, the year of issue and the name of the author of the design ‘FRANCO FILANCI’.
