This year, a series of stamps that intend to bear witness to the works "world heritage of humanity" will begin. The project includes a stamp for each site in which a characteristic architecture of the UNESCO site is depicted and the sky of a significant work of art present there. The Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi which preserves and guards the mortal remains of the Saint, dominated by Giotto's "Crucifixion with five Franciscans" in the lower Basilica (circa 1308-1310; from Umbria, to the Marche with a view of the historic center of Urbino, the famous façade of the "Torricini" of the Palazzo Ducale, located next to the Cathedral, and the painting San Rocco by Lorenzo Lotto, depicted in the sky. The third stamp depicts the Mausoleum of Theodoric of Ravenna, dominated by the night sky, a depiction of the mosaic vault of the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia. Fourth stamp and completed stage in Emilia, with the Estense Castle (beginning of construction 1385) in Ferrara, immortalized under the frescoes of the reception hall of Palazzo Schifanoia 1468 and 1470. The logo of UNESCO and the UNESCO World Heritage Italian Heritage Association, which collaborated in the creation of the leaflet, was reproduced on each stamp, as well as the identification number relating to the registration criteria of the architectural site.
