The sheet consists of four stamps with a value of €1.50: in the top left corner, the stamp
depicts the First Tower and Vittorio Pochini's work “La Repubblica”, while on the right is the
Japanese castle of Himeji; in the bottom left corner is Emilio Retrosi's painting
'The Apparition of San Marino to his People', and on the right is the painting Tokaido-Gojyusantugi
“Nihonbashi in the Morning Series”. Each stamp bears the words “SAN MARINO” and the value
“1.50”.
The sheet is completed at the top by the flags of San Marino and Japan, and at the bottom by the paintings
‘Japanese Woman’ by Utamaro Kitagawa and ‘Saint Mary Magdalene’ by Francesco Menzocchi. The
legends ‘Joint Issue San Marino Japan’, the descriptive legends of the
subjects represented on the sheet, the Institute that oversaw the printing, the year of issue and the name
of the author of the sketch ‘Motoharu Morita’ complete the sheet.
