2 Euro reverse proof "550th anniversary of the birth of Michelangelo"

The commemorative 2-euro Reverse Proof coin dedicated to Michelangelo Buonarroti, on the occasion of the 550th anniversary of his birth. The Renaissance genius trained in the workshop of Maestro Ghirlandaio. The obverse, designed by sketcher Silvia Petrassi, depicts in the centre the work ‘Cleopatra’, kept at the Casa Buonarroti in Florence, a magnificent pencil drawing made in 1535 for Tommaso de' Cavalieri, a great friend of Michelangelo's, considered one of the rare examples of the more intimate and delicate side of Michelangelo's production.
