200 Years since the Birth of Giuseppe Verdi

In the obverse of the medal in foreground the portrait of Giuseppe Verdi with the hand that points, at the right of the medal, at Gilda and the Duke of Mantova, two characters of the musical opera the Rigoletto. On the left Mount Titano of the Republic, the olive and laurel oak branch and the crown. Around the border “A◦GIUSEPPE◦VERDI◦REPUBBLICA◦DI◦SAN◦MARINO”, “1813 2013” and the signature “Grilli”, the signature of the artwork designer Angelo Grilli. In the reverse of the medal there is a synthetic description of the Nabucco opera of Giuseppe Verdi with at the centre the group of Jewish slaves that raise their hands to the sky. On the background hills, the Giordano river, the flight of birds and of a butterfly. On the left “VA PENSIERO”, on the right “SULL’ALI DORATE”, above “NABUCCO” and the signature “Grilli”.
