The first Olympic medals for San Marino have arrived from shooting. On July 29, 2021, after 61 years from San Marino first participation in the Rome Olympics, Alessandra Perilli wrote the history of the blue-and-white sport, winning the bronze medal in the women’s trap final at the Tokyo Olympics. Perilli, partnered with Gian Marco Berti, on July 31, 2021, won the silver medal in the final match against Spain in the mixed team competition, missing the gold medal by just a single target.
The reverse of the coin shows the busts of two athletes with open guns raised in the air as a sign of victory of the silver medal. On the female athlete’s rifle is added a color to also remember the bronze medal victory.
