The souvenir sheet depicts the fresco “Madonna di Casa Santi”, which is the first masterpiece of the young Raffaello and is located in his family’s house in Urbino (currently seat of the eminent Accademia Raffaello). The work of art reproduces the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus, who is sleeping on her knees, and it is pervaded by the tenderness of the intimacy between mother and child, a recurring theme of Raffaello’s artistic production.
